Some may think that it is too early to put a baby in a swimming pool at two months old, but I didn't see anything wrong with it. We went to Hot Springs this weekend to visit our family. My dad got his swimming pool heated up to around 88 degrees just for Kennedy. I waited until the sun started going down because I did not want her to get a sunburn. At first she was a little nervous about being in the water, but she adjusted quickly. We bought her an infant life jacket that is a little big for her now, but she will grow into it. She enjoyed being in the pool. She is already a little water baby!! My goal is to teach her to swim at an early age. Obviously, it will not be at two months old, but I can still work on getting her adjusted to being in the water. It is amazing how quickly babies can learn things. I had heard that if you blow towards their mouth that they automatically hold their breath. This is how you begin to teach them how to hold their breath under water. Well, I found out that it works! Kennedy didn't even seem to mind at all being submerged under water for the approximate .25 second. I was nervous to try it at first, but she did great!! All the grandparents got tons of pictures of the swimming pool event. We are looking forward to our next swim!
Kennedy and I traveled down to Little Rock for the first time together this weekend. My mom and I threw a wedding shower for my friend Sara Beth who is getting married later in the month. It is hard to believe that Kennedy is already 1 1/2 months old. We took her to meet her great grandma for the first time. She did not know that we were in town, and we decided to surprise her. We had perfect timing on this visit. She had been told earlier that day that she was diagnosed with cancer. The surprise visit from Kennedy and I took her mind of the upsetting news. She was excited to see us, and she was thrilled to hold Kennedy and feed her a bottle. Kennedy was happy to meet her great grandma, and she also met some of her great aunts and uncles. A big milestone also occurred this weekend. She smiled for the first time at her Uncle James!
Trent and I dated for five years before tying the knot on May 21, 2005. We officially became a family on March 26, 2008 when Kennedy was born. She is the joy of our lives. Trent and I love being parents! Check back often for more blog posts! We will do our best to keep you updated and entertained!
