Little Rock Zoo

Kennedy took her first trip to the Little Rock Zoo on Saturday. While her first actual zoo trip was to the drive-thru safari in Gentry, we thought that being a few months older it would be more exciting for her to see all the animals. Upon arriving, we rented a wagon. This proved to be a smart move on our part. The weather was awesome and not too hot. I had not been to the zoo in years. They have made some positive changes, but there are still things that have not changed since I was a kid. While we did not ride the War Memorial carousel, we did get to ride the train. Kennedy loved it! She was fascinated by several of the animals such as the giraffe, the elephant, some deer-like animal, all the birds, and the monkeys. She never could quite sit still the entire time in the wagon. Sometimes she wanted to be carried, and other times, she wanted to walk either holding my hand or pushing the wagon. We ate lunch in the Safari Cafe before finishing our stroll through the zoo. Kennedy seemed to have a great time. Before leaving, she posed for the camera with a snack in hand while sitting at the feet of a gorilla statue. She is looking forward to her next visit, and so are we. Next trip is possibly to the Tulsa Zoo!

American Cancer Society's Vintage Affair

This past weekend, we headed down to Little Rock for the weekend. My brother has gotten involved with the American Cancer Society serving on the sponsorship committee for the 50's Vintage Affair charity event at Pleasant Valley Country Club. We decided to all go to support him and his efforts. Trent stayed home with Kennedy that night to babysit, but my mom, dad, and Cheryl rolled out to the event. Most everyone was dressed up in 50's clothing. My mom and I dressed up like the Pink Ladies, and James was Johnny Cash. There was a great turn out at the event, and my mom and I are always suckers for a silent auction. We were happy to support a cause that is so close to our hearts!

Naturals Baseball Game

This past weekend, our neighbors Chuck and Ashley invited us to the Arkansas Naturals baseball game at Arvest ballpark in Springdale. The company Chuck works for has a luxury box for the 2009 season, and he got all the tickets for the game Friday night. It was a great night out after working all day at our garage sale! Kennedy was not very fond of the Naturals mascot Strike. In fact, she started trembling and crying as soon as she saw him enter the room. He scared her to death! At the end of the game, there was a marvelous fireworks display. Kennedy stayed awake the entire time and she behaved perfectly. (Sometimes this is not always the case when she is tired or in a bad mood.) She danced almost the entire game to the music which kept everyone entertained. This was only our second time to attend a Naturals game, and it was a first time for Mimi. We all had a great time! Thanks again to our wonderful neighbors for inviting us!
