Kennedy's Daycare Bully

Kennedy started her first day yesterday as a Busy Bee. She will stay in this class until she is 18 months old. Trent and I were excited for her because we felt that she was getting a little bored in her other class. For the past couple of weeks, she has been visiting the class several hours a day in preparation for the official move into the classroom. After two days, she seems to love one of her new teachers named Miss Nicky. Also, she had a few nice surprises for her mommy and daddy today.

This morning, Trent took her to daycare. He carried her into the building and into her classroom as usual, but something today changed. As he was standing in the doorway waiting for her to pitch her usual fuss, she did the complete opposite. She walked directly into her classroom to the table with the other kids and sat down with them. She had already forgotten about her daddy and was ready to start her day. He stood there dumbfounded at what had just happen, but he was so proud of his big girl. He immediately called me at home to share the big news. Our baby girl is growing up!

This afternoon, I received some additional information. Evidently, Kennedy is getting picked on in her class. Currently, she is the smallest and youngest one in her room. This bully is the same child who picked on her when she was six months old. At six months, she had just moved into the snuggle bunny class. She was not crawling at the time, and this same bully had bit her. I couldn't believe it! My daughter was helpless and could not even defend herself or crawl away. Trent and I had our concerns about this one particular bully once Kennedy moved up into the Busy Bees, but at least now, Kennedy is more mobile than she was 6 months ago. For the past two days, Kennedy's bully has not left her alone. The bully is constantly messing with her. Today, Kennedy finally had enough and stood up for herself. She took off the bully's shoe and hit him/her with it! Kennedy's teacher was so shocked! The bully might think twice next time before they mess with Kennedy. Obviously, we don't want our daughter to become a fighter, but we want her to defend herself. She made us proud today!!!
