'Tis the Season

Trent and I love the Christmas season. It is our favorite holiday. In fact, Halloween is next Friday, and he is going to have the guys work on installing our Christmas lights next week. We realize that Christmas is still two months away. However, we own the Christmas Decor of NWA franchise. Our house is the practice installation home for the Christmas light season. Our Christmas Decor franchise specializes in exterior Christmas lights and decor. It is a great little business venture because we take advantage of the slower months of the Scotts LawnService season which is the other franchise that we own. This year, Trent is going to do all white lights on the house with green trees and red shrubs within our landscaping. It is popular to add a splash of color within your exterior Christmas decor. However, some people take the splash of color too far. You would not believe the high number of requests for multi colored lights on homes this year. There is no way that I want my house to look like a rainbow, but some people do. One customer told Trent that she wanted to set a trend in her neighborhood, and she requested that we do not decorate any other home in her neighborhood with multi-colored. She wanted her home to stand out. I don't think that she will have a problem with her neighbors trying to copy her. She lives in a massive size home. I can't imagine what the house is going to look like once it is completely decorated. Last year, she wanted it red and white in order to resemble a candy cane, and it looked fabulous. However, due to the size of the house and the amount of lights, power was a major issue. With having so many lights, the circuits would blow. This was a problem with several homes which resulted in us having an electrician on call. This year, we will not have this problem. We are introducing LED lights (not the led colored lights at normal retail stores that look blue instead of white). They are great because they use 95% less power which helps save on your electric bill. We are all about trying to conserve energy! I will post a follow up blog once our house is decorated in case anyone wants to pull a drive by and check it out. We are looking forward to the holidays!

Jason and I were wanting to get some information about getting lights on our house. We were curious as to what it costs, if we need to use our own lights, and if you take them down after the holidays. Just let me know!
