Arteriorgram Scheduled For Tonight
James now has a white blood cell count of 412,000. However, his red blood cell count is still down. Last night, they did a blood transfusion of one unit of blood. They are going to do another one tonight with two units of blood. The results from the MRI yesterday found that he has a bleeding vein or artery somewhere which is causing the swelling in his leg. Tonight, they are performing an arteriorgram to try and locate the bleeder. They don't know if it is still bleeding out, but they know it has been bleeding. If they find it bleeding out, they are going to plug it to prevent any damage done to his leg such as muscle deterioration. If they can't find it with the arteriorgram, they will perform surgery to drain the pockets of blood. They don't want to be invasive if they don't have to be. Also, they don't want infection to set in. For the procedure, he will be put to sleep per his request. When he is through, he will have to be still and not move around. The doctors are also limiting his intake of fluid. The combination of the water and the cleansing machine is disturbing the balance of his system which means less water and more food.
